Felicity has had a long and extensive career throughout many educational sectors and has just retired from running her own school in North Hampshire, which she set up 39 years ago. The school catered for up to 40 children between the ages of three to five years and employed ten staff. The school was rated as ‘Outstanding’ by OFSTED. Felicity is currently retained as a consultant to the Little Crickets Nursery School, Herriard, Basingstoke, her former school, which was taken over by her Deputy Head and renamed.


  • London County Council: Child Care Officer in charge of 60 families and the welfare of about 200 children, either in homes or in temporary care. Also responsible for adoption, both vetting prospective parents and placing children with families, and children sectioned under Section 2 of the Children’s Act. Worked closely with the NSPCC on Child Protection issues, and with special needs children in homes.
  • Ashford Girls School, Ashford, Kent: Responsible for ‘A’ level Economics and English, Psychology seminars for the Upper Sixth and running the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme
  • Southborough Secondary Modern School, Maidstone, Kent: ‘O’ level English and English Literature
  • Daneshill School in Dogmersfield, Hampshire: Head of History Department
  • Saxon Wood School for special needs in Basingstoke: Governor
  • Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme in Nigeria: translating the syllabus into a local context and giving a series of lecture tours to many schools to introduce, implement and develop the scheme, and sourcing the financial sponsorship to establish and strengthen the project.
