Barbara Jeremiah JP

Barbara Jeremiah is currently working as a Textile Designer and Director. She is a retired Nursing Administrator and a Magistrate.

She is a member of:-

  • The New Embroidery Group; Phoenix Stitchers; Holybourne Beaders; and Busy Bees Hampshire.
  • The Royal Horticultural Society; The MG Car Club; and Soroptimist International.
  • Barbara is a Freeman of the City of London and a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Gardeners.
  • Barbara has an MSC in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford University, a BA (Hons) Art in the Community from the University of Surrey, a Textile Diploma from East Berkshire College, City and Guilds Parts I and II in Embroidery and Design from The London College of Fashion, an ACSET (Adult) teaching diploma and RGN/Theatre qualifications.

Barbara undertakes commissions in textiles and ceramics. She teaches on The History of Embroidery; the Bayeux Tapestry; The History of the Straw Hat industry in the UK and abroad; and gives workshops and demonstrations on embroidery and textile techniques including her own recognized stitch. She took up her career in textiles and as a Company Director after a career in administration and nursing in the public and private sector.

Her interest in gardening is reflected in the flair, texture and colour of her designs.
